Elikia Afrika
Who We Are ?
Elikia Afrika is a dynamic, community-based organization rooted in Goma, DRC working with children, youth & women
Vision
We see DRC being transformed through ethical leadership that inspires the world and functions as a role for internal peace keeping.
Mission
Elikia Afrika works to protect and strengthen conflict-affected communities by fostering inclusive, community-based spaces for dialogue among elders, women, youth, and local leaders.     With women and children at the center, we support peace education, mental health and psychosocial well-being, prevention and response to gender-based violence, and community-led environmental protection. Through reconciliation, negotiation, and leadership capacity-building, we enable community peace ambassadors to deliver small-scale, locally driven initiatives and safe spaces that promote protection, dignity, social cohesion, and resilience in daily life.
Focus on
We focus on responsability, truth-telling, accountability, and dignity, teaching young leaders the importance of fairness and justiceÂ
What we do ?
Elikia Afrika works alongside conflict-affected communities to strengthen protection, social cohesion, and resilience. We train youth and community peace ambassadors in leadership, civic responsibility, negotiation, and non-violent conflict resolution, enabling them to respond constructively to local tensions. We create inclusive, community-based spaces for dialogue that bring together elders, women, youth, and local leaders to address grievances, support reconciliation, and rebuild trust. With women and children at the center of our approach, we support peace education, mental health and psychosocial well-being, and the prevention of gender-based violence through safe spaces and peer-led initiatives. We empower community ambassadors to lead small-scale, locally driven actions, including education, dialogue, and environmental protection activities—that embed peace, dignity, and resilience into everyday life, while promoting ethical role models who inspire reconciliation and responsible leadership within their communities.
Problem in the Eastern of DR Congo
Decades of conflict have shaped daily life in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Women, children, and youth are the most affected, living with fear, displacement, and limited access to essential services. Mental health challenges are widespread, as generations cope with trauma, loss, and uncertainty. Women are particularly vulnerable, often experiencing violence and exploitation that leave lasting scars on families and communities.
Conflict has destroyed schools and disrupted education, eroded trust between neighbors and institutions, and stalled local development. Misinformation and fake news further inflame tensions, spreading fear, mistrust, and divisions within communities. Opportunities for growth and hope are scarce, making it difficult for communities to rebuild and thrive.
At Elikia Afrika, we work to restore hope. We create safe, inclusive spaces for dialogue, empower youth and women as peacebuilders, and support initiatives that counter misinformation, address trauma, protect vulnerable groups, rebuild trust, and lay the foundations for sustainable peace and resilient communities.
Elikia's Impact
Young people, women, and people with disabilities from all walks of life have a huge impact on us and guide everything we do. They show us the areas of society that need the most support, and we respond by walking alongside them in every way we can.
In Goma, for years,we have been on the ground, supporting children in school, mentoring young leaders, empowering women, and assisting people with disabilities, so that everyone has the opportunity to regain hope, overcome challenges, and flourish in life. At Elikia Afrika, we believe that every individual, no matter their background or ability, deserves the chance to thrive and contribute to rebuilding their community.
